About Me

Background

I grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and received a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA.  Psychology was not on my radar.

I began a corporate job and a few years in, found myself unsettled and considering a more people-oriented profession.  I had become increasingly aware of emotional and mental well-being, and I wanted to better understand how it affects our ability to function within our environment and relate to others.

After spending 10+ years at a corporate job, I transitioned careers to pursue my interest in mental health and received a M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University.  I very much value my background in business though and feel it brings a unique perspective to my therapeutic work.

As a therapist I have worked with individuals (children, teens and adults), couples and families seeking help for a wide array of issues.  These include but are not limited to:  relationship problems, grief, intimacy and sex, depression, abuse and trauma, family difficulties, anxiety and panic disorders, domestic violence, self-identity, and life goals and transitions.  I have also led support groups focused on relationships, communication and interpersonal skills and grief.

Perspective on Therapy

When we find ourselves struggling or in need of additional support, therapy offers a safe and secure environment to explore these challenges and work towards healing and personal growth.

We all have our own ways of feeling and being, and our own history and set of circumstances.  What allows one person to emotionally and functionally thrive may not do the same for another.  So together we will take a look at what is going on in your world, process these experiences to help identify what’s working and what’s not, and then come up with a strategy that empowers you to take control and move forward in a way that feels healthy for you.

I subscribe to a culture of empathy and want each of my clients to feel seen, heard and supported.   My hope is that my clients see therapy as an investment in their well-being, and by committing to therapy, realize they are doing something powerful for themselves.
